ID Letter Distressing Description
A Chain Dents and Dings Created with the heel of a file. It creates random triangular shaped dents, scrapes, and marring in the surface of the wood to show wear. It is recommended on softer wood such as Alder, Cherry, and PG Maple.
B Chipping Intended to create a worn look. Painted finish is chipped off in random areas to expose raw wood under the painted surface. Sealer and Standard Sheen Topcoat completes the process.
C Cluster Worm Holes Multiple holes in concentrated groups placed in a random pattern and location.
D Panel/Stile Splits This is a very artistic process. Cracks are added to doors and drawer fronts in areas where the wood would logically split over time. Worm holes are concentrated in a few selected areas to complete this look. Cracks are recommended on softer wood such as Alder, Cherry, and PG Maple.
E Random Knife at Joints Emulates open stile and rail joints in random locations on doors and drawer fronts.
F Random Worm Holes Worm Holes are placed in a random pattern and location throughout the product.
G Rasping A hand tool is used to create inconsistent scars across edges of doors and drawer fronts.
H Rub Through Painted finish is sanded off randomly on the edges of doors and drawer fronts to give a worn appearance. Sealer and Standard Sheen Topcoat completes the process.
J Weathering Wire brushing is used on doors, drawer fronts, and moldings to create a weathered appearance. The brush digs out the soft areas and leaves the hard portion of the wood intact. Weathering is only available on Plain Sliced, Quarter Sawn, and Rift White Oak. The cabinet box is not affected by this process. Variation in weathering will occur.
K Worn Corners In the raw state, random corners of the doors and drawer fronts are sanded down to create a worn appearance.
